What is a PIFA antenna

PIFA antennas, also known as planar inverted-F antennas, are one of the most widely used built-in radiation antenna structures in consumer electronics and IoT devices. They are low-profile, miniaturized RF antennas designed for enclosed applications.

How PIFA antennas work

Many customers mistakenly think that the built-in antenna is just a "metal patch". In fact, it has a very rigorous radio frequency resonance structure, and the principle can be fully verified by spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and anechoic chamber tests without the void theory.

1. Ground resonance principle: The PIFA structure relies on the radiation arm + ground coupling to form an inverted F resonance loop. Compared with ordinary antennas, it is less dependent on the ground of the device's main board and has a higher overall fit tolerance rate.

2. Low profile radiation: The antenna is extremely low and installed close to the fuselage, which can effectively reduce signal attenuation caused by metal shell shielding and solve the problem of signal plunge after the equipment is fitted.
