What is a directional flat panel antenna

Our 14DBI wall-mounted directional flat-panel antenna is a high-gain narrow-beam directional radiation antenna, specifically designed for indoor long-distance WiFi networking, outdoor base station signal reception, and wireless signal amplification engineering. Conventional omnidirectional antenna signals are distributed 360° and the transmission distance is limited; Directional antennas rely on their back reflectors to gather radio frequency signals and concentrate radio frequency energy in a single direction, significantly enhancing long-distance transmission capabilities. How the Antenna Works

Many customers mistakenly assume that the flat panel design is only for appearance. However, the directional flat panel antenna achieves focused signal transmission and reception through its internal multi-layer structure. The working principle can be verified through professional testing equipment, including vector network analyzers, RF anechoic chambers, and electromagnetic simulation analysis.

1. Oscillator Radiation and Metal Reflector Beam-Focusing Principle

The internal array oscillator is responsible for transmitting and receiving RF signals. The metal reflector positioned behind the oscillator reflects signals radiated backward and sideways toward the front direction, narrowing the beam width and improving signal concentration. This structure enables the antenna to achieve a high gain performance of up to 14dBi.

Measured comparison: A standard 3dBi omnidirectional antenna typically provides a transmission distance of around 300 meters in an open environment, while the 14dBi directional antenna can achieve a stable transmission distance of more than 1,200 meters under the same conditions.

2. Multi-Band Resonant Matching Structure

Q1: Can the feed length and RF connector of a directional flat-panel antenna be replaced?

A: Customization is supported. Standard antenna feeders can be customized to any length from 1 meter to 15 meters. Connectors SMA male and female, N head, BNC can be replaced as needed. For large orders, the LOGO on the shell can be silk-screened for customization.

Q2: Can this flat-panel antenna be used as both a 4G signal amplifier and a WiFi bridge?

Q3: Will metal walls and steel structures affect antenna signals?

A: Metal sheets can reflect and shield radio frequency signals. When installing, the front radiation surface of the antenna should avoid large areas of metal shielding. If it is impossible to avoid this, an additional antenna can be added to receive signals at different points, and engineers can provide a point adjustment plan.

Q4: How to solve the problem that the feeder joint is prone to water ingress and short circuit when used outdoors for a long time during the rainy season?

A: After installation, wrap waterproof electrical tape around the metal joint position. The outdoor pole-mounted antenna can also be customized with an upgraded waterproof joint to completely prevent rainwater from eroding the joint.
